Alicia Keys in Belgrade
Belgrade Arena, 11.10.2008

Alicia Keys - Belgrade Arena 2008Alicia J. Augello-Cook (born January 25, 1981) better known by name Alicia Keys, winner of eleven Grammy Awards, seventeen Billboard Music Awards and 3 American music awards - is finally coming to Belgrade. This amazing woman has started in Harlem where she was raised by her mother. She began playing piano at age of seven, and was valedictorian at the age of sixteen - however although she was accepted at prestigious Columbia university she decided that she is worth more than that and she decided to start pursuing her music career.

Very early she recorded a song "Dah Dee Dah (Sexy Thing)" but the song was just an introduction in her brilliant career. Her first bigger success came with "Songs in A Minor", released on June 5, 2001 which was sold in amazing ten million units. The single "Fallin" was number one on US Billboard Hot 100 for more than a month. Single "A Woman's Worth" was within the top ten in America and most of the reviews she received were fantastic.

"The Diary of Alicia Keys", her second album was released on December 2, 2003. To date, it has sold nine million copies worldwide.

The singles "You Don't Know My Name" and "If I Ain't Got You" were the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. Single, "Diary", entered the top ten. Keys went on to become the best-selling female R&B artist of 2004.

At the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards, Keys won "Best R&B Video" for "If I Ain't Got You".

At the 2005 Grammy Awards, she won four Grammy Awards: "Best Female R&B Vocal Performance" for "If I Ain't Got You", "Best R&B Song" for "You Don't Know My Name", "Best R&B Album" for "The Diary of Alicia Keys", and "Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals" for "My Boo" with Usher.

In November 2007 her new album "As I am" was released. In only ten hours "No One" single reached the top of Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs list. The album had tremendous success worldwide and is the best representation not only of her great voice but also of passion and dedication that the Superwoman has demonstrated in the last decade.

Madonna NOT in Belgrade, Serbia

Madonna Concert Belgrade SerbiaAfter many speculations about Madonna’s concerts in Eastern Europe (rumors circulated around Budva and Zagreb), the Belgrade daily Blic has exclusively announced last week that the pop diva is coming to Belgrade, Serbia on the 25th of September.  However, only several days after this - Blic  announces that the concert of Madonna will actually take place in Montenegro

The "Sticky and Sweet" tour promoting Madonna's new album "Hard Candy" will start in August. The concert will take place on 25th of September on beautiful Jaz beach in Montenegro , an amazing outdoor venue, and the same place that hosted one of the best recently held Montenegro concerts – Rolling Stones. The famed Madonna Louis Chicone is renowned for her outstanding showmanship as well as perfectionist management – so we can all expect a phenomenal show.

Last year Madonna signed a contract with “Live Nation” worth an unbelievable 120 million dollars. The contract stipulates that Live Nation will organize all promotions, publish records, organize tours, and deal with endorsements for Madonna.

So if you are in the region, or coming specifically for the concert remember to visit Belgrade Eye again as we will keep you updated on any changes and official announcements.

Manu Chao definitely coming to Exit festival Novi Sad

It has been confirmed by EXIT Fest officials that Manu Chao is coming to this year’s EXIT festival in Novi Sad, Serbia. With his distinct sound and mixture of rock, Ska, and Latin music, Manu Chao has become an immensely popular artist in Serbia. He plays the guitar, and his music is frequently followed by keyboards, horns, and many other instruments. Manu Chao perform in at least seven languages.

Their left-wing political views and strong presence of political themes resonate well with audiences in the Balkans, where the anti-globalist movement is looked at with much sympathy.

Manu Chao is currently working on the soundtrack for Emir Kusturica’s movie Maradona – a sure way for his popularity in the region to skyrocket further.
